In your view, what life stage is the human family in?

Posted on Jun 29th, 2008 by ItsWill : Atrayu & Bastian ItsWill
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for June 29, 2008:

I believe our human family ranges from late adolescent through mid-twenties, in overall mindset.  Throughout the nineties, Western culture was a lot like that really talented guy you used to share a beer and creativity with while hanging out in his parents' basement:  all the ability without the self-discipline to put it into practice.  Fate would ensure their talents would be noticed, they reasoned, no matter how many wasted evenings stacked up.

Like the Witnesses of Jehovah, or Evangelicals, '90s culture in the West wated for the Divine to send a savior, as we kept plugging into the gas pump and reality television.

I believe the emerging generation has matured, but deflated.  We now understand the hard work it will take to revive Gaia's ecosystems:  transforming every aspect of our way of life to cater towards eco-minded practices.

Rather than the High School gossip games and bullying behaviors, our diplomacies must now cater to empathy and non-zero sum agreements.

Basically, we've decided in recent years to step out from the shadow of what went before and taken dependence into our own hands.  I pray the leading edge, early adult stage socieites such as Canada or the Netherlands can help the "young adult" American culture pick up the pieces of early-adolescent areas of the world, in which genocide or warfare still rules by the way of the gun.  (But can this be done while America continues to point a pistol to the head of the collective?)
