Who or what do you give authority to?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for April 19, 2009:
Yesterday I was illuminated into the Orthodox Christianity. Today, we celebrated Pasca. As recently as 40 days ago, before the Passover/Lenten season, I would have never considered myself capable of the Peace I hold within this day.
Two years ago I gave authority to my Self, and although I felt Spiritually empowered to crucify the Ego, looking back I see such a lack of discipline in my practice that I fear my Ego ruled the night. My days were spent recouperating.
One year ago I began to give my authority to my Angel of Nazareth, my fiance. I found in her a role model with such distinctly similar attributes to my child Self, I was drawn to reintegrate the piety of my Youth with the wayward freight train of my Ego.
In the words of my favorite lyracist: I was given the Spiritual tools I needed in order to crucify the Ego before it's far too late and leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical...
(And you will come to find that we are all One Mind and think of all that inconcievable. Let the Truth guide you and let the light Shine through and let it pass right through breaking out of Hope and Reason.
For those of you who wish to Baa! in my direction, I smile as a grandparent to their grandchild, that knowing wink.
